Dr Amélie Rollé is a clinician-scientist (Associate Professor – Hospital Practitioner, MCU-PH) in Anaesthesiology, Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine at CHU de Guadeloupe and Université des Antilles, affiliated with the BIGR laboratory (Inserm UMR_S1134). Her work focuses on sickle cell disease, in particular the perioperative management of patients and the treatment of vaso-occlusive crises, bridging anaesthesia–critical care and red blood cell biology. She designs and leads clinical and translational studies adapted to the specific needs of the French Overseas Territories. She is the only Associate Professor in Anaesthesiology–Critical Care for the Antilles–Guyana region, and the founder and President of AMORE, a research and teaching society dedicated to these territories.
Dr Rollé currently leads several clinical research projects on sickle cell disease and perioperative care. As principal investigator she coordinates ALRCVO-RCT, a multicentre, randomised non-inferiority trial comparing locoregional anaesthesia with morphine for the management of vaso-occlusive crises across the French Antilles, Guyana and Toulouse (PHRC-I, GIRCI SOHO). She is also finalising two cohort studies: TRANSFUDREP, on perioperative transfusion in sickle cell patients, and TRAUMARME, on penetrating trauma. These works combine anaesthesia–critical care methodology with the red blood cell biology developed within the BIGR laboratory.
