Dr. Yohann Garnier is an assistant professor at the faculty of medicine at Université des Antilles. His research within the BAHSic team at Inserm U1134 focuses on the profile and impact of microparticles in sickle cell disease. These submicrometric extracellular vesicles are among the actors able to precipitate the occurrence of crises in this disease.

Current projects

Assessing the impact of hydroxyurea on microparticles and neutrophils of sickle cell anemia patients starting the treatment, and investigating the molecular bases of resistance to this treatment in patients from 4 Caribbean islands, using flow cytometry, high resolution confocal microscopy and flow adhesion assays.

Investigating the impact of loco-regional anesthesia on the proinflammatory properties of microparticles of sickle cell anemia patients during crisis using flow cytometry and a flow adhesion assay.
